Discover Our Passion for Pet Care: A Journey with VeTZcapes

Our Story

VeTZcapes founders had a passion for providing high-standard veterinary care to both small animals and wildlife. Growing up in Tanzania they have a deep-rooted appreciation for the vast beauty of the continent but were also abundantly aware of the limited access to veterinary care available. This is something they wanted to change. As a result, VeTZcapes was established and proudly offered both a mobile clinic and a fully functional veterinary clinic operated in Arusha. Ensuring the patients get the very best care is our priority. The ongoing aim is to inspire and teach the next generation of vets and nurses through empathy in action and excellence in care.

Our Vision

Imagine a future where our vet clinic in Arusha not only provides state-of-the-art facilities but also serves as a hub for community empowerment. Our internationally trained veterinarians are devoted to delivering advanced pet care and diagnostic solutions. Beyond the clinic walls, we are deeply committed to sharing knowledge and fostering a community that passionately reciprocates the love and care we bring to your pets, ensuring a healthier and happier life for every cherished companion.

The Team

Milou Nijenhuis

Our founder, Dr. Milou Nijenhuis, grew up in Kibosho, Tanzania, and earned a Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from the University of Glasgow. She is certified by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, the South African Veterinary Council, the Diergeneeskunde Register of The Netherlands, and the Veterinary Council of Tanzania. Before returning to Tanzania, she worked in a small animal referral hospital in The Netherlands, where she was exposed to state-of-the-art facilities and performed numerous consultations, diagnostics, and surgeries. She furthered her skills by performing endoscopies, laparoscopic sterilizations, ultrasonography, and even assessing and performing MRI and CT scans. Alongside her job, she completed a graduate program, and extra certification in surgery and wound management. Afterward, she moved to South Africa to work alongside a wildlife veterinarian, furthering her skills in wildlife medicine and conservation. Followed by getting her Dangerous Drug Licence in Chemical Immobilisation with African Wildlife in Zimbabwe in 2024.
